PLAYOFF RULES (Ten Teams)

Because of the limited number of games played during the playoffs each week, our games must be played differently than the way they are played during the regular season:

Who is eligible to play?

All teams will compete in the playoffs. There are no individual team matchups; every week, all teams compete against each other. To begin, teams will be awarded one-time bonus points, based on their regular season play. The first two spots are reserved for the division winners, the remaining positions are determined solely on record. If two teams have the same record, the usual tie breakers will apply.

These bonus points will be awarded as follows:

  1. 27 points (division winner # 1)
  2. 24 points (division winner # 2)
  3. 21 points
  4. 18 points
  5. 15 points
  6. 12 points
  7. 09 points
  8. 06 points
  9. 03 points
  10. 00 points
In addition to the the standard bonus point assignments:

1. The 3 teams with the highest total con-points for the season will receive additional bonus points: The first highest will receive 3 points, second highest, 2 points, and third highest, 1 point.

2. Also, each team will receive a bonus point for every weekly high-points score acheived.

How do we play?

For each playoff game, complete the following:

  1. Predict the winning team.
  2. Assign "Win Points." For each game you may assign a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 12 Win Points. The total of your assigned points for the week must total a certain amount, based on the number of games on the schedule:

    • Playoff week 1 (4 games) = 48 points
    • Playoff week 2 (4 games) = 32 points
    • Playoff week 3 (2 games) = 16 points
    • Superbowl (1 game) = 8 [all picks are worth 8 points].

  3. The total points scored in the game (both teams combined).
  4. The total (net) passing yards (both teams combined).
  5. The total (net) rushing yards (both teams combined).

How are these picks scored?

Although we are going with a ten-team schedule this season, we will continue to score on an 8-point basis, in order to maintain the integrity of our records. Our rules for scoring are, therefore, modified as follows:
For each winning team predicted, you receive a score based on the win points assigned to each pick. Incorrect predictions receive 0 points. In each of the other 3 categories, you can receive from 0 to 8 points based on how close your prediction is to the actual total. The closest guess receives 8 points, the second closest, 7; the third closest, 6; and so on, with the eighth closest getting 1 point. The two teams furthest from the actual amount would receive no (0) points in that category.

How do we win?

There are two ways to win: Send a cashier’s check to Kommissioner Krusty. . . or for you bargain hunters, just score the most total points through the 11 Playoffs games! All points received (including each teams’ bonus points) are accumulated during the course of the playoffs. After the final week (Superbowl Sunday), the team with the highest point total wins the Itchy & Scratchy Bowl Championship!

In the event of a tie, the following tie-breakers are used to determine the winner:
1) The team who scores ahead of the other team most often in the 11 playoff games.
2) The team with the most "Win-Picks" (number of times a team selected the game winner in each game).
3) The total number of Win-Points earned (points earned by picking the winning teams).
In the unlikely event that two teams are still tied, the championship goes to the best looking team owner.

What are the Submission Rules?

We respectfully request that you send all picks by Friday evening for the Playoff weeks 1 & 2 and Saturday evening for the week 3 and the Superbowl to allow sufficient time to process and post your picks online. However, Kommissioner Krusty, may, at his whim, set specific time deadlines for each set of games, as required. Deadlines will be posted in the ISFL review each week.

Teams that submit their picks late (after the start of the first game) will be penalized. For every playoff game missed, the delinquent I&S team will receive "0" points for the team pick and will be ranked last in all other categories. In other words, you will receive NO points. However, during the Playoffs you have the option to jump in and submit picks for the remaining games. Please contact Krusty for approval and specific instructions.

Picksheet Errors:

The only mistakes you can make when sending your picks are submitting winpoints that do not follow guidelines, or add up correctly. Here's how these would be handled:

Incorrect total of Win Points—If your total is over, we will deduct from your first high pick; if your total is under, we will add to your last lowest pick.

You entered more than maxium 12 or less than the minimum 4 points on one game— Overages will be distributed, as evenly as possible, to other picks. Values under 4points will increased by taking from the highest point selection.

Good Luck!
